Victoria Hunt addendum:
"If an editor needs to caption their own videos, my recommendations would be that, along with any technical specs, they should obtain and follow established guidelines regarding:
- font size
- indicating speaker changes
- where best to make line and caption breaks
- the positioning of captions on screen
- and the ACMA’s ‘readable, comprehensible, accurate’ guidelines
While I acknowledge that font size and colour for captions is potentially out of anyone’s control and dependent on manufacturer specs for set top boxes, etc, all of the other things make a real difference to audience members being able to easily and efficiently consume the caption information on screen."
